Provenance: George Wilson of Sandgate (the artist's brother-in-law), thence by descent to Mrs Charlotte Margaret Wilson. Fred Hall studied under Verlat in Antwerp between 1882 and 1883, where his fellow pupils included the Irish artist Walter Osborne. They visited Brittany together in 1883, painting at Pont-Aven and Dinan. Fred Hall had a studio in one of the barns at Kimbers Farm, near Newbury. He rented the space shortly after the outbreak of wat in 1914. |
